Crayon Pop first debuted in 2012 featuring the five members: Ellin,
Geum-mi, So-yu, and twin sisters Cho-a and Way. Some of the members
already had experience before debuting as Crayon Pop. For exampl,e
So-yul was part of a short-lived kpop duo called Chic'6 Muscats while
Way was previously a part of the indie band N.Dolphin.

The group first started promoting in Japan, and released debut music
videos in Korea and Japan at the same time for "Bing Bing". They
continued on, releasing "Saturday Night" just a month later. The
members continued to churn out songs, releasing "Dancing Queen" in
October later that year.

However, it wasn't until June of 2013 that Crayon Pop not only saw
domestic stardom but international popularity. With the release of the
catchy song "Bar Bar Bar", Crayon Pop created the next dance craze.
The music video for the song went viral on Youtube, where the girls
wore silly helmets and did what was dubbed the "5 cylinder" or "5
cylinder engine" dance.

The song hit number one on most major music charts, including the
Billboard K-Pop Hot 100 chart. The girls got airtime internationally
and in the US as well, being featured on hot shows like Good Morning
America.
